This sculpture is being offered for sale on behalf of a private collector. It is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
The current owner’s parents acquired this sculpture in Zimbabwe, probably in the late 1980s. They bought it from Fanizani in person. They spent a lot of time in Zimbabwe in the 1980s and 1990s, making films about Shona sculpture, and they also organised exhibitions of Shona sculpture in Denmark and Germany.
The sculpture is in good condition for its age, with only minor scuffs but no major damage. The original wax finish has faded, commensurate with its age, which reinforces the authenticity of the work.
We have not inspected this sculpture in person. However, we are entirely satisfied with the description of its condition and its authenticity. This is based on the information and photos provided to us by the seller. We will provide a certificate of authenticity for the piece to the buyer.
