This quirky sculpture, with a whistling face on one side and a sleeping face verso, is a super example of Fanizani Akuda’s instantly recognisable style.

It’s great value for money for an original artwork by one of Zimbabwe’s most loved ‘first-generation’ artists. Certainly, it would make a fantastic addition to any Shona sculpture collection.

Guruve is advertising this piece for sale on behalf of its current owner. They purchased it directly from Fanizani when they were visiting Zimbabwe in 2007. Sadly, there’s no provenance with the piece. However, Guruve are sure it is a genuine work by Fanizani so we’ll be providing a certificate of authenticity and artist biography to accompany the piece.

The piece is signed on the base. The current owner has looked after it well, and it is in excellent condition.
