This sculpture is being advertised for sale on behalf of a private collector and is in excellent condition for its age (there are just a few tiny marks) – it has clearly been well looked after. It was bought from the respected Matombo Gallery in Harare in 1990.
The piece is signed ‘Henry’ on the base. The number ’47’ has been scratched into the back of the sculpture at the base – this is the original Matombo gallery reference number.
It comes with the original Matombo Gallery certificate of authenticity and their receipt and a photo taken by the gallery for their records, along with a certificate from Guruve. Detailed provenance gives the collector great piece of mind when investing in major artworks, and this piece is well supported.
Beware of less scrupulous people than ourselves selling non-authentic ‘Henrys’ – if the piece or the price looks to good to be true, there’s probably a reason for it.
This piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
