Christianity is the main religious faith in Zimbabwe, and the Apostolic churches who robes themselves in white are very popular.
Henry is the most collectable artist of the Shona sculpture movement, and this is a quintessential ‘Henry’.
This sculpture is being advertised for sale on behalf of a private collector who worked for the British Council in the 1990s. It was bought directly from Henry himself in Zimbabwe in 1991.
The piece is signed ‘Henry’ on the base. It is in excellent condition for its age – it has been well loved and looked after!
It comes with a copy of the original receipt for the sale from Henry (written on British Council headed paper!), along with a certificate from Guruve.
Beware of less scrupulous galleries than ourselves selling non-authentic ‘Henrys’. Detailed provenance gives the collector great piece of mind when investing in major artworks, and this piece is well supported.
The piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
