A lovely little Henry bust, with his trademark angular face and perfectly round eyes.
It’s a great opportunity to own a piece by Zimbabwe’s most famous and collectable ‘first-generation’ sculptor from the Shona sculpture movement.
This piece is being sold through Guruve by a collector, who bought it in 1992 when he was working in Zimbabwe, directly from the artist himself.
Unfortunately, there is no additional provenance to accompany the piece, but Guruve are satisfied it is an original and genuine ‘Henry’. Henry has signed this piece on the base.
Tengenenge serpentine, from a mine near the sculpture community, has a more crystalline internal structure than other serpentines, but from the point of view of sculpting, it is similarly durable.
This piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
