Guruve is advertising this lovely Henry Munyaradzi sculpture for sale on behalf of a private collector.
The current owner acquired this piece when he was working in Zimbabwe in the period 1983-1986. He and his wife bought the piece directly from the artist. He says:
“…my wife and I were good friends to Henry [Munyaradzi] and Nicholas [Mukomberanwa], we visited their farms frequently and they our home likewise and we had always a good time together.”
Henry is one of the most sought-after names of the Shona sculpture movement. This is a great example of his very appealing work, in a lovely material. The deep green swirls make verdite a much-prized stone amongst Zimbabwean artists and collectors alike.
This piece has been cherished and is in very good condition for its age. There are a few tiny marks and the wax finish shows slight fading, though this could be restored. However, it may be that a collector would prefer to keep the original ‘look’ of the piece, which is around 35 years old now!
This piece is in Sweden and will be shipped from there; P&P is at buyer’s expense.
