Master first-generation Zimbabwean sculptor Henry Munyaradzi, the most sought-after name in the Shona sculpture movement

Henry Munyaradzi

Sculptor

This lovely sculpture is a quintessential example of works by the late great Henry Munyaradzi. As is typical of so much of Henry’s oeuvre, this piece captures its subject in just a few simple lines. The love of a mother for her baby is universally appealing!

Henry is the most sought-after and collectable name of the ‘first generation’ of artists from the Shona sculpture movement from Zimbabwe.

The current owner of this sculpture inherited it from an elderly relative, who had spent much time in Zimbabwe in the 1990s and had brought the piece back then. Sadly, no paperwork accompanies the piece, but we are certain of its authenticity. The type of serpentine used, and the signature on the base correlate nicely with the date. The lack of documentation is reflected in the price.

This sculpture is in Sweden and ships from there. P&P at buyer’s expense.
