Master first-generation Zimbabwean sculptor Henry Munyaradzi, the most sought-after name in the Shona sculpture movement

Henry Munyaradzi

Sculptor

An adorable sculpture of a mother and baby by the biggest name in Shona sculpture, Henry Munyaradzi.

A mother cuddles her newborn baby – the tiny face and fingers make your heart melt!

The colourful stone is a variety of serpentine rarely used these days, but was favoured by Henry in the 1980s so it ties nicely with the date.

This piece is being offered for sale via Guruve by the owner, who (with her late husband) bought it directly from Henry in mid-1980s. There’s no paper provenance to accompany the piece sadly – it’s too early for Henry’s own certificates. The owner has provided photos of her husband with Henry. We are satisfied it’s an authentic genuine artwork by the hugely collectable “Henry of Tengenenge”.

Condition is pristine, as it has recently been expertly restored.

Imperial measurements are: 2′ 2 2/5″ × 12 3/5″ × 10 1/5″ and weight 153lbs. Payment can be made in USD equivalent to £12,500.

This sculpture is in Zimbabwe and ships from there. Crating is free but freight costs are at buyer’s expense will depend on destination.
