An abstract work inspired by the fierce elegance of the eagle. The eyes are at the top, represented by the hole viewed from either side; the main downwards curve is the eagle’s beak.

“Eagles can tell people when the rain is coming, when you see them spiralling in the sky.”

This is a very striking sculpture, and would make a superb centrepiece as it has interest from all angles. Although intricate in composition and with demanding techniques, such as the hollowing out of the stone, the overall feeling is of clean crisp lines and simplicity.

Lepidolite is a mineral of the mica group, containing lithium. This stone comes from Bikita, one of just two sources in Zimbabwe. It’s an extremely hard type of stone, and is absolutely fine for outdoor display. All colouration and texture within the stone is entirely natural; indeed, Ishmael has sensibly decided to sand and wax the entire sculpture so we can enjoy the beauty of the stone itself.
