Ishmael Chitiyo

Sculptor

The movement of the sculpture twists out from the centre to points on each side – transforming into the horns of a buffalo. Very clever and sophisticated work from one of Zimbabwe’s top abstract sculptors.

Since this sculpture is low and wide, it would be a perfect centrepiece for a coffee table or sideboard.

This gorgeous piece of stone is a type of serpentine known as ‘leopard rock’; it’s most commonly a pale yellow-green with black spots, hence the name. With Ishmael’s wonderful finishing, it looks like it has been glazed with glass. All colouration and patterning within the stone is entirely natural, enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.
