“The African Queen represents beauty, because the chiefs have the chance to marry the most beautiful women. Her hair is nicely plaited.”

So the young bride (a common theme in Zimbabwean sculpture) of the chief is the pinnacle, the essence of feminine beauty that everyone admires.

This colourful stone is a variety of serpentine. All the colouration in the stone is entirely natural, enhanced by the application of a layer of clear wax.
