Lots of movement in this sculpture of a dancer – the bottom part is the legs, above is the body twisting with the music, and the head at the top bowed down, absorbed in the dance.

A super abstract piece from Munyaradzi, whose pared-down and elegant style has made him one of the outstanding artists of the younger generation of Zimbabwean sculptors.

Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a very hard variety of serpentine stone. It is a particularly good sculpture medium, as it has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is dense and has very few flaws. The green lines are veins in the stone.
