“A rabbit looking up to the sky for rain.”

The circle is the rabbit’s body; the curved flat green part behind forms an ear and the head is top right, with the nose lifted up, seeing if it can smell rain on the wind.”

As with so much of the best work of the younger generation of Zimbabwean sculptors, less is more … and this is a deceptively simple and very clever work by one of Zimbabwe’s top young sculptors.

Fruit serpentine is the local Zimbabwean name for a very colourful, slightly translucent type of serpentine stone.
