Guruve is advertising this lovely Nicholas Mukomberanwa sculpture for sale on behalf of a private collector.

The current owner acquired this piece when he was working in Zimbabwe in the period 1983-1986. He and his wife bought the piece directly from the artist. He says:

“…my wife and I were good friends to Henry [Munyaradzi] and Nicholas, we visited their farms frequently and they our home likewise and we had always a good time together.”

This exceptional piece has been cherished for many years and is in super condition. Nicholas’ signature is clearly visible in the photographs.

The late great Nicholas Mukomberanwa is one of the most respected and sought-after names in the Shona sculpture art movement.

Since his works rarely come on to the open market, this is a great opportunity to acquire a work in a stunning medium. The deep green swirls make verdite a much-prized stone amongst Zimbabwean artists and collectors alike.

Often sculptors interpret the green colour of verdite as significant, representing nature: therefore, we may infer that this is a goddess of some aspect of the natural world or she is symbolic of mother Earth.

This piece is in Sweden and will be shipped from there; P&P is at buyer’s expense.
