This striking sculpture of a young boy’s head is a lovely example of the work of the late great Nicholas Mukomberanwa. His face is sculpted in simple but exquisite lines, capturing a child’s face with closed eyes, symbolising his blindness.

Nicholas is widely regarded as the greatest sculptor Zimbabwe has ever produced. His work rarely comes onto the open market, as most pieces are held in private collections. In particular, small sculptures are very rare and hard to find. Therefore, this piece represents a super opportunity for a collector to acquire a lovely little ‘Nicholas’. Without doubt, it would make a great addition to any Shona sculpture collection.

Guruve is offering Blind Boy for sale on behalf of a private collector who acquired it in 2012, from a gallery in Zimbabwe. A certificate of authenticity from the Harare gallery (and also one from Guruve) accompany the piece.
