A person whose head is full of thoughts of the moon.

The whole round sculpture represents the person’s head, and it is split into two opposing quarter-circles to represent the crescent moon as it waxes and wanes.

So simple but powerful, the best of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture holds its own on an international stage. Nesbert is one of Guruve’s most popular artists¬†and his confidence as a sculptor shines through in this striking sculpture,¬†with its elegant curves and simple form.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is a favoured medium for Zimbabwe’s top sculptors, as it is very hard and durable with few flaws. The small lines are veins in the stone; they are entirely natural and not cracks.
