Leopard Rock (Serpentine)

  • 50cm (h)
  • 34cm (w)
  • 19cm (d)

21kg

Two people dancing together. Each side is a body, one either side, and they share a head (the top circle) and their arms around each other (the stone between the two circles).

This lovely piece, with its elegant curves and simple form, is a fantastic example of the best of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture. Nesbert is one of the most talented artists of his generation, and one of Guruve’s most popular artists! He follows in the footsteps of the late great Zimbabwean artists of the past, including his uncle Nicholas Mukomberanwa.

Plus, what a gorgeous piece of stone! It’s a type of ‘leopard rock’ serpentine from northern Zimbabwe. It is very hard and impermeable, so it’s suitable for display outdoors as well as indoors. All the colour and patterns within the stone are entirely natural, enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.
