Waiting For My Friend

Cobalt Stone (Serpentine)

  • 35cm (h)
  • 17cm (w)
  • 13.5cm (d)

This bird is scanning the skies above to see whether their friend is returning.

Peter has chosen to sand and wax this piece in its entirety, rather than his normal matt white rasped finish, to allow us to see the depth of colour in the stone.

‘Cobalt stone’ is the local Zimbabwean name given to this type of serpentine. It is typically a lovely mixture of purple and green. This variety comes from the area around the town of Mvurwi in northern Zimbabwe. It does not (as far as we know) contain any cobalt mineral, but may originally have been discovered near a cobalt mine.

This charming bird sculpture is tremendous value for a unique work of art, and a fine example of our belief that we should provide art of the highest quality for all budgets. The piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
