Peter Gwisa

The next generation of a plant.

“When a plant first germinates, it grows pretty much straight up, and fast. Later, it will branch and spread. This fresh growth is hope for the future.”

Peter has kept his work relatively simple here, keeping the form uncluttered and creating movement via the twists in the stone. Sculptures like this are examples of the very best of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture – expressing ideas in a pared-down unfussy flowing form that is universally accessible and doesn’t need pages of explanatory notes.

This tall elegant sculpture would make a super centrepiece for a garden, as it has interest from every angle.

Springstone is a hard variety of serpentine stone.  It is dense and impermeable with very few flaws that might be exacerbated by frost action.  It is suitable for outdoor display.

[Please note that the granite slab in the photo is not included. However, we do have some circular slabs in sparkly black or pale grey available for sale – please enquire if you’re interested.]
