“When there’s a flood, the big fishes start to move around and they dominate the flood waters.”
The swirling lines represent the eddies and ripples of a fast-moving river in flood. Across the front of the sculpture, the form of a fish leaping from the water stands out proud.
Remembrance’s work effortlessly combines the uncluttered feel of the best of Zimbabwe’s contemporary abstract sculpture with the inspiration that comes from a traditional rural upbringing.
This hard variety of serpentine stone has been named ‘avocado serpentine’, after its striking green and yellow colouration. Remembrance has polished the whole piece with a coat of clear wax to enhance its beautiful natural colours. It is suitable for outdoor display.
As with all Guruve’s sculptures, this piece is an original and unique work of art created from a single piece of stone and signed by the artist.
This piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
