Rufaro Murenza was a former apprentice to established artist Joe Mutasa. He was also the 2015 winner and three-time finalist (2014/2016/2017) of Zimbabwe’s prestigious National Arts Merit Awards 3D sculpture category.
Lepidolite is a mineral of the mica group, containing lithium. This stone comes from Bikita, in south-eastern Zimbabwe, which is one of just two sources in the country. It’s an extremely hard type of stone, so it is absolutely fine for outdoor display. All colouration and texture within the stone is entirely natural.
