“Her man has bought her a necklace as a gift; she’s delighted with it and she’s put the necklace on to show it off to her friends.”

This astonishing sculpture is one of the highlights of this year’s collection. It’s really unusual to see such a large piece of semi-precious stone – it’s huge, and would make a focal point with real wow factor in any garden or interior space.

Add to that that Rufaro has had a record-breaking five nominations in the annual national sculpture competition, and you’ve got a very special work of art. We’ve never seen anything like it before. Stunning!

Red jasper is a semi-precious gemstone that is finding increasing favour among Zimbabwean sculptors. Since it is so extremely hard, artists have to use electric tools for sculpting it as this can’t be done by hand. Although it’s difficult and expensive to work on, the end result is absolutely extraordinary and worth the effort and expense.

All colour and texture within the stone is entirely natural. The stone has some small inclusions of white quartz and other minerals. They don’t affect the internal strength of the stone and it is fine for outdoor display in any climate.

This sculpture is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
