She is young and beautiful, with elegant features and a complicated hairstyle befitting a royal princess.

Rufaro trained under acclaimed sculptor Joe Mutasa and he has gone to gain national recognition as one of Zimbabwe’s finest young representational sculptors.

Red jasper is a semi-precious gemstone that is increasingly popular with Zimbabwean sculptors. It’s incredibly hard so it needs electric tools to be worked; this can’t be done by hand. Therefore, it is difficult and expensive to sculpt but the end result is absolutely extraordinary, and worth all the cost and effort.

All colour and texture within the stone is entirely natural. There are some small inclusions of white quartz and other minerals within the red jasper. These are natural and not cracks or lines of weakness.

This sculpture is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
