Tafadzwa started with the idea that the hole in the middle of the stone is an eye; from there, it’s easy to see the crystals as tears, running down a cheek. The whole form is a head and shoulders.
We’re very impressed with Tafadzwa’s restraint: his sculptural forms are simple and uncluttered. It’s essential not to overcomplicate a sculpture so it ends up fighting the medium for attention. Especially when the stone is so fabulous!
All the colour and texture within the stone is completely natural, including the holes and the network of lines. The stone is extremely hard and strong.
