Though her hands are crossed on her chest to indicate she is demure, her hair’s length, volume and neatness gives her confidence and pride.
At just under a metre tall, this striking sculpture is a very versatile height. For instance, a tall plinth would give her even more impact in a large space, but equally she could be placed straight onto a patio or floor and not be overwhelming.
Springstone is the local name for a very hard variety of serpentine stone. It is suitable for outdoor display, as it is dense and impermeable and has very few flaws that might be exacerbated by frost action.
