“She’s striking a pose to attract attention. She’s a bit shy to look at the audience but she’s still showing off.”

This lovely elegant lady would grace any space. She’s tall enough to make a visual impact, but since she’s so slender she is not over-imposing.

Tutani has used various sculpting techniques to create this elegant lady. For her hair and dress, he has stroked the matt grey of the raw springstone with a rasp to create the white finish (full of tiny parallel scratches). Then he picks out the sweeping lines of her dress and the braids of her freehand with a grinder. To get the contrast of the smooth shiny black surfaces, he sands the stone and then heats it and applies clear wax.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It is dense and impermeable, and rarely has any imperfections, so it’s suitable for outdoor display even in temperate climates.

If the textured surface gets some greenery growing on it, you can easily wash this off with some water and a scrubbing brush. The sculpture itself won’t be affected.

Shipping is from the UK via tracked courier; P&P at buyer’s expense. The sculpture is already drilled, ready for installation. We can supply a suitable pin on request.
