Shona artist Tonderai Sowa with one of his abstract sculptures

Tonderai Sowa

Sculptor

Two people whose spirits are united by a life of love spent together.

Literally, the movement represents a couple moving around, enjoying all the things they do together. However, it’s also the two of them spending their life together: the twists are like bonds that tie them together.

This is a fantastic large sculpture, with interest from every angle. It’s the biggest piece we have from Tonderai this year, and would make a super centrepiece for a garden.

As with all Tonderai’s sculptures, this piece has been carved by hand from a single piece of raw stone. All colouration and texture within the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.

Springstone is the local name for a hard variety of serpentine stone. It has a very even internal structure of small grains of rock; it is hard and impermeable and is therefore frost-resistant. This sculpture is suitable for outdoor display.

[Please note that the granite slab in photo is not included, though we do have some circular granite bases available for sale.]
