Shona artist Tonderai Sowa with one of his abstract sculptures

Tonderai Sowa

“The rings are interlinked. This shows the bond between the couple.”

Although Tonderai has established a reputation for complex intricate sculptures, here he keeps things relatively simple – to great effect.

This is a fantastic small- to medium-sized sculpture (depending on your space!). It would be great for a coffee table or low sideboard, perhaps.

Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a hard variety of black serpentine stone. It has an even internal structure of small grains of rock, with the result that it rarely has any flaws. This makes it a perfect medium for Tonderai’s technically challenging style. As with all his sculptures, Tonderai has carved this piece by hand from a single piece of raw stone.

This piece is in the UK and will be shipped from there. Costs of freight and packaging would be added to the price above. Please email us for a shipping quote, giving your delivery address including post/zip code, if you’re tempted.
