Tonderai is one of Guruve’s most popular artists, and it’s easy to see why. It is almost inconceivable that an artist could create such delicate and intricate work from a single piece of stone. But, for all its complexity, the lines are fluid and uncluttered.
Springstone is the local Zimbabwean name for a hard variety of black serpentine stone. It comes from a geological formation known as the Great Dyke, in northern Zimbabwe. It is rich in serpentine stone, and also iron and various other minerals such as chromium.
