The movement of the sculpture represents the waves on the water.
This is a fantastic little sculpture with interest from every angle. We are firm believers that every sculpture from Guruve, large or small, should be of top quality and this piece is a great example of an affordable unique work of art.
As with all Willard’s sculptures, this piece has been carved by hand from a single piece of raw stone.
This dark variety of ‘avocado’ serpentine stone is particularly hard. It also has a nice even internal texture of tiny grains that makes it perfect for Willard’s technically challenging style of sculpting. The colours in the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.
Additionally, luckily for him, he can mine it on the very hillside of his home in northern Zimbabwe!
