“Someone checking with compassion and tenderness on another person to make sure they are OK.”
The lines go round and round, representing the carer’s repeated visits. The empty space in the middle, the ‘negative space’, symbolizes the person being cared for.
Willard was one of Guruve’s most popular artists last year. This lovely piece is part of the new 2023 collection, yet another fabulous selection of sculptures! Regardless of size, every one of his sculptures is fluid and elegant. In addition, he chooses stones that are full of colour and intriguing texture.
This variety of ‘leopard rock’ serpentine comes from northern Zimbabwe near Willard’s home. It is very hard and impermeable, so it’s suitable for outdoor display even in temperate climates.
The colours in the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax. Even the green veins, with their crystalline structure, are part of the natural stone. They give the stone a snakeskin-like appearance.
Imperial measurements are: 19″ (h) x 19″ (w) x 16″ (d) and 91.5lbs
