“How things in nature come to find a natural balance.”

The balanced harmony of the sculpture’s form reflects the harmony we find in natural ecosystems. Through its swirling movement, Willard is articulating the fact that natural populations are always in flux. In turn, a change in one population will affect other species that co-exist in that space. Nature is always changing and yet working to find balance and stability.

Willard’s use of organic flowing lines keeps the sculpture feeling fluid and uncluttered. In addition, this allows us to enjoy the incredible internal colour and texture of the stone itself.

The creamy pale green and black palette of the stone works well with natural materials such as wood and sandstone, and also with popular interior colours such as grey and beige.

This particular variety of serpentine stone is especially hard and rings with a metallic sound when struck with a punch. The colours in the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor display.
