“These are the movements of the waves as they roll past the boat.”

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country, far from the ocean in every direction. However, it has plenty of dams, and many such lakes are big enough to have sizeable waves during a storm. Especially the biggest, Lake Kariba, a manmade lake which was formed in the 1950s as part of a massive hydroelectric project on the Zambezi river.

Willard was one of Guruve’s most popular artists last year. This lovely piece is part of the new 2022 collection, yet another fabulous selection of sculptures! Regardless of size, every one of his sculptures is fluid and elegant. In addition, he chooses stones that are full of colour and intriguing texture.

This particular variety of serpentine stone, with tiger stripes, is especially hard and rings with a metallic sound when struck with a punch. The colours in the stone are entirely natural, merely enhanced by the application of a coat of clear wax.

This sculpture is in the UK and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
