Sculpture garden at Harare’s new Shona Sculpture Gallery

Guruve’s sister gallery, the Shona Sculpture Gallery, finally opened its gates to the public in March 2016 after three years of preparation. With a delightful sculpture garden and a Spanish-style verandah for smaller works, we are already getting great reviews on TripAdvisor. A much-needed positive development for the art movement and artists on the ground in Zimbabwe!

SSG is located at 20 Airport Road so it’s easy to find if you’re ever passing through Harare, Zimbabwe, and we look forward to welcoming you!

Joseph created some of the greatest works of the Zimbabwean sculpture movement, as he tried to capture in stone the fundamental spiritual and cultural beliefs that had structured the lives of previous generations of Zimbabwean people. He was described as ‘a universal genius’.
