The lion is roaring. With its mouth wide open, it looks like it’s smiling.
This quirky, almost cartoonish, representation of a lion is typical of Ephraim’s style. He is famed for his charming animal sculptures.
Ephraim is one of the last living ‘first generation’ artists from Zimbabwe’s Shona sculpture movement.
He has signed it on the base.
Additionally, we provide a wealth of supporting literature with every Guruve sculpture. This includes a certificate of authenticity and Ephraim’s biography, including a photo of him with the piece.
This sculpture is made from brown serpentine stone from the area of Mazanu in northern Zimbabwe.
