Ephraim said he gave this piece the title ‘Dancing Horse’ because when the horse rears up, it looks as if it is dancing.
Ephraim Chaurika is famed for his quirky animal sculptures – especially of horses. He is one of the last living ‘first-generation’ artists from Zimbabwe’s Shona sculpture movement.
This cute little sculpture is a great example of Ephraim’s almost cartoonish style. It’s super value for a work of art by such a well-known name, and it would make a great gift for a horse-lover!
Ephraim has signed it on the base. Additionally, we provide a wealth of supporting literature with every Guruve sculpture. This includes a certificate of authenticity and Ephraim’s biography, including a photo of him with this very piece.
This sculpture is made from dark serpentine stone from the Guruve area of northern Zimbabwe.
