Locardia Ndandarika, one of Zimbabwe's best-known female stone sculptors

Locardia Ndandarika

Female Sculptor

A bird turns to preen the feathers of its back.

Locardia was one of Zimbabwe’s best-known female artists, and this is a distinctive example of her work.

Common opal stone is quite a soft variety of serpentine stone from Zimbabwe. It is harder than soapstone but we would recommend that this piece should be for indoor display only.

Opal stone does NOT contain opals – beware of other websites whose ignorance leads them to suggest that it does.
