Tendai Gwaravaza has created an outstanding collection of artworks for Guruve this year. We find the simplicity of his organic forms very impressive.

Tendai marries his confident sculpting with bold choices of raw materials. This fantastic piece of semi-precious red jasper is a perfect example – it really has the WOW factor and would make a great statement centrepiece. Certainly, Karma is the stand out piece from this year’s collection of Shona sculpture.

Semi-precious red jasper has such fascinating internal colour and structure. It is extremely hard, so power tools are essential to sculpt it. Although it appears to be full of irregularities, the stone is actually very solid and strong. In fact, it’s perfectly suitable for display outdoors in any climate.
