As the lines spiral inwards to the centre of this lovely sculpture, it suggests the ideal inward focus when meditating.
Tendai has pared back line and form to the bare minimum. A statement piece that demands pride of place, it really has the wow factor!
‘Butter jade’ is the local Zimbabwean name for this beautiful stone, which comes from Birchenough Bridge in south-eastern Zimbabwe. Actually, it is not jade: possibly, it’s related to agate.
It’s extremely hard stone; therefore, it’s suitable for outdoor display, even in temperate climates. It would make a super focal point, especially against a darker backdrop. TIP: a tall thin plinth like this would make a huge dramatic statement.
We’d suggest a dark plinth for contrast – perhaps scorched timber or black granite. TIP: make even more of a statement by spotlighting it at night.
