The lines of the sculpture spiral inwards to the central hole. Tafadzwa said it shows someone meditating, where their awareness is going inwards. Gradually their thoughts are stopping, and hopefully they find that peaceful inner place of stillness and calm.
A fantastic sculpture which combines lovely fluid movement with fascinating colour and texture within the stone. It’s quite a sizeable piece, so it’s fantastic value too!
This unusual pale green stone is a variety of ‘leopard rock’ serpentine that comes from near the town of Shamva, north of Harare in Zimbabwe.
The black veins in the stone are entirely natural – they are not cracks or lines of weakness.
