The simple outer form enhances the beauty inside, the inner beauty of the stone itself: an explosion of pastel lilac, pink and white. Contrasting darker islands float across the surface, whilst clouds of clear crystals appear to dance between the opaque lilac sky.
All the colour and texture within the stone is completely natural, including the network of lines. The stone is solid and strong.
This stunning agate stone comes from Mozambique. It’s expensive to buy, and expensive to sculpt, because it’s so hard it requires special tools. Unsurprisingly, therefore, not many Zimbabwean artists use agate! However, the end result is so extraordinary that it’s worth all the expense and effort.
