A swirl of stone at the front represents one person; another at the back is their partner, and the largest loop in the middle encircles them and unites them.

Handfasting is a ritual where a couple’s hands are bound together with cloth to symbolize their union. It stands separate from or as an alternative to a church wedding. Interestingly, although we might think of it as a pagan or Celtic ritual, Willard says it’s also part of Shona culture in Zimbabwe. How fascinating!

This stunning sculpture is a very versatile height. It would have great dramatic impact on a tall plinth in the centre of a flowerbed. Equally, it is small enough to be displayed in a large interior space without being overwhelming.

The green tones of the stone would work well with natural materials such as wood and sandstone, and popular interior shades such as white/cream, beige and grey.

Imperial measurements are:
2′ 2/5″ x 1′ 10 2/5″ x 11 2/5″ and weight 107lbs
