Antony Masamba

Sculptor

‘Everything has a Beginning’ every journey has to start somewhere… as the Chinese say, ‘A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.’

This sculpture represents a person who travels the world, who goes on a long round-trip and then returns home. Tracing the movement from the base of the sculpture, the movement goes up and round and comes back down again.

With this lovely small abstract sculpture, Antony excels himself again! Elegant sweeping lines swirl around the centre point, creating a soft-looking organic form with such perfect finishing that it looks like it has been glazed with glass.

The stone itself is also astonishing – a particular variety of leopard rock serpentine, found near the town of Shamva in northern Zimbabwe, this really does look like the blotched coat of a leopard. Wow!

This is a lovely small sculpture by one of the most exciting young artists working in Zimbabwe today, and is great value for money as an original and unique handmade sculpture.
