This eye-catching sculpture is a quintessential example of work by the late great Bernard Matemera. It would be a fantastic addition to any Shona sculpture collection.
It is being offered for sale on behalf of a private collector, who bought it at the Chapungu Sculpture Gallery in Harare, Zimbabwe in December 1988. The original Chapungu certificate accompanies the piece.
The sculpture is in very good condition and has clearly been well looked after. There are a few minor scuffs, commensurate with its age, but no major damage. Bernard has signed it on the base.
We have not inspected this sculpture in person. However, we are entirely satisfied with the description of its condition and its authenticity. This is based on the information and photos provided to us by the seller. We will also provide a certificate of authenticity.
It is located in Germany and will be shipped from there; P&P at buyer’s expense.
