This delightful sculpture represents a baby elephant!
The upper loops stick out like the elephant’s ears, and the downwards line in the centre is its trunk.
Baby elephants are very inquisitive, and Charles has captured in a few simple lines the way they extend their ears and shake their trunk when something strange and new appears.
This variety of serpentine stone has been named ‘avocado’ after its green and yellow colouration. However, parts of this particular piece of stone are a very dark green so the colours are much more subtle.
Of course, Charles’ lovely finishing ensures it shines like glass and brings out the subtle beauty of the stone.
TIP: display it in good light with a pale background to illuminate the subtle dark green and yellow colours within.
