This striking abstract sculpture of a head is by the late great Nicholas Mukomberanwa, who is widely regarded as Zimbabwe’s greatest sculptor. It is part of a series of works Mukomberanwa produced where he uses parallel lines to indicate a mystical trance-like state.

Nicholas’ work rarely comes onto the open market, as most pieces are treasured within private collections. In particular, small sculptures are very rare and hard to find. Therefore, this piece represents a super opportunity for a collector to acquire a lovely little ‘Nicholas’; it would make a great addition to any Shona sculpture collection.

Guruve is offering this sculpture for sale on behalf of a private collector. They acquired it in 2014 from a gallery in Harare. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the piece.
