The two concentric curves fit together snugly, representing a couple dancing. The outer curve is the man; he wraps his arms round the woman, the smaller inner curve.
Tafadzwa combines sweeping curves, straight lines and sharp angles to create a bold yet simple form. And, whilst the form of this elegant sculpture is simplicity itself, this piece is all about the beauty of that stone. It’s spectacular!
All the colour and texture within the stone is completely natural, including the tiny lines. The stone is solid and strong.
Not many Zimbabwean artists use agate, because it’s expensive and difficult to sculpt. However, it’s such extraordinary stone that we think it’s worth all the expense and effort.
