“The leaves lie flat on the water. When it’s windy, it’s more interesting than when it’s still. The lower part [of the sculpture] is the tuber and the stem up to the water’s surface. They are important plants because they reduce evaporation and give the fish somewhere to hide.”
With its elegant yet simple organic form, inspired by nature, this eye-catching sculpture would make a terrific focal point in a garden setting. It’s very versatile height, and would be equally impressive in a large interior space.
Charles has sculpted it from a single solid piece of raw stone, so it’s a unique and original work of art.
Springstone is a hard variety of serpentine stone. Its tiny grains and even internal structure make it a perfect sculpture medium. Especially so for artists like Charles, where he removes substantial amounts of the raw stone to create ‘negative space’.
We have already drilled the base of sculpture, ready for installation, and we can supply a suitable pin.
