Ephraim Chaurika

Sculptor

Such a lovely little sculpture! This elephant has its huge ears extended like wings, ready to fly.

This quirky, almost cartoonish, representation of an elephant is typical of Ephraim’s work. He is one of the last living ‘first generation’ artists from Zimbabwe’s Shona sculpture movement.

Ephraim has signed it on the base (under its feet).

Additionally, we provide a wealth of supporting literature with every Guruve sculpture. This includes a certificate of authenticity and Ephraim’s biography, including a photo of him with this very piece.

It’s super value for a work of art by such a well-known name, and would make a great gift.

This unusual green and black variety of serpentine stone comes from near Guruve in northern Zimbabwe, near where Ephraim lives. It is hard and durable.
