We love the way the smooth rounded organic abstract form coalesces into a bird.
The large circle is the body of the bird. The smaller circle above is its eye, with the beak coming down to a point. The bird inclines its head as it preens the feathers of its back.
This is a lovely small sculpture by one of the most exciting young artists working in Zimbabwe today. As an original and unique handmade sculpture, it’s very affordable and would also make a great gift.
The stone itself is a particular variety of ‘leopard rock’ serpentine, full of subtle colour and texture. Munyaradzi’s superb finishing makes it look like it has been glazed with glass.
